Netflix’s fourth and final season of Castlevania is coming to the streaming service on May 13, and based on a new trailer released Thursday, the animated series will pull out all the stops for the finale — both in terms of better-than-ever animation and the sheer amount of blood and gore.
As Sypha Belnades (Alejandra Reynoso) notes in the trailer, Castlevania season 4 is going back to “where it all started.” Putting an even finer point on it, Trevor Belmont (Richard Armitage) adds, “Everything has led us here.” The two will have to contend with an attempted resurrection of Count Dracula Vlad Tepes — Dracula for short — as Isaac and Hector spin up an army of night creatures. Alucard (James Callis) will be there too, but will also “struggle to embrace his humanity,” Netflix says.
Here’s Netflix’s official synopsis of season 4 of Castlevania:
Wallachia collapses into chaos as factions clash: some attempting to take control, others attempting to bring Dracula back from the dead. Nobody is who they seem, and nobody can be trusted. These are the end times.
Castlevania debuted on Netflix in 2017 with a four-episode season. Seasons 2 and 3 dropped in 2018 and 2020, respectively. The fourth and final season will run 10 episodes. According to a report from Deadline, Netflix is eying a new Castlevania series that will follow a different set of characters.
